Etny steps forward almost immediately, and extending her right hand, speaks in perfect, fluent, formal draconic to Atriox. "Jennu Ir, I wish to finalize our peace with a truce, and a covenant. Wilt thou hear the plea of this huntress in the wilds?"
Etny's heart races, memories flooding back with the force of a storm in full torrent. She has no idea how this will go, but she MUST try to make peace with the prince, and solidify an alliance between herself and him.
(18 Persuasion?)
Atriox motions for the Kobolds to help him with his armor rather grumpily. He looks around at everyone and then at the Huntress
"You have rather bad timing huntress and I'm in a sour mood. As you can see theres rather larger concerns at the moment. I got your missive and of course I accept other wise you'd be dead by now would you not ? Now can anyone give me a report ?"
Alrik chimes in. "People have been going missing. Tucker and I found one of his friends with his throat cut. Found a bloodied apron nearby and Fenris tracked it's origins to the blacksmith. Ferrar said it belonged to his son." Alrik places a hand on Tucker's shoulder. "We're not going to give up on finding his friends... when your real family is gone, your friends become family... they're everything to an orphan."
He looks down at Tuck and gives him a reassuring nod before mumbling to the boy. "Don't worry. Nothing will stop us."
Tak steps forward, taking his helmet from his head. "Darr also gone to fetch the Stonebreak soft skins. They coming quickly as can. Tunnels growing each minute in the field. Vele went go help with machine at blacksmith place."
Atriox grunts
"I'm aware of people going missing Alrik despite your last words to me I have been searching for some of them for weeks for most the blacksmiths son."
Atriox looks to the boy
"I am sorry to hear about your freinds boy. With any luck we will find them but that must be put on hold for now."
Atriox then listens to Taks report and it doesn't help his mood......at all.
"Damn it all ! I had planned on us having days to prepare. I thought I had helped set them back but apparently my foolishness and brazen actions have only worsened our situation. We must prepare now as best we can and pray to whatever you believe in that it'll be enough."
Exhausted, Tak can't really do anything but nod.
Fenris folds his arms looking pensive. He watches the orcs and kobolds readying for battle. He grumbles, "Let's get back to town as quickly and carefully as possible. We should meet there with the mayor and let him know, if he isn't already aware."
Atriox grabs his horses reigns and nods
"Very well but we need to move quickly"
Tucker looks upset. "I want to stay and look for my friends. I don't want to go back and talk to more adults, this is getting too complicated." He looks at Alrik with frustration.
"Agreed... we need to find them. Everyone. Fenris, can you see if there's any trace of the missing people?"
The man looks at Alrik and nods. "Aye, I can see what I can find. Come Brutus." The dog spins in a circle, excited for a hunt. He stalks off through the woods surrounding the area, scanning the ground and the trees. Once in a while he plucks a leaf and chews it, kicking at the dirt with his boots. He mutters under his breath as he goes, taking mental notes.
Atriox mounts his horse and looks at the boy
"Life is complicated boy. None of us asked for this. No one asked to be taken, no one asked for a army of orcs to invade Dragonshore, none of us asked to loose or homes and family's! ( Atriox gestures to his companions) But here we are I suggest you get used to it quickly if you want to survive. If you wish to search for missing people so be it but they are already gone. I refuse to put them above a town that might be soon destroyed as well."
Tucker looks down, considering your words even if they make him angry.
Atriox wheels his horse to look at Ore
"I am giving you command of the Orcs that joined us. I think you will make good use of them in battle. Work with Gogron. He'll help. Dont do anything rash Ore these orcs don't have to help us but they are. 19 of them already sacrificed there lives. Work together........please.I'm heading to town."
Oredion looks at Atriox his eyes still burning green brightly.
"Aye, I'll take charge of the lot dragon."
Etny lowers her hand, slightly defeated by Atriox's words and dour mood, but mostly satisfied, what with everything going on. "I understand where you come from," still in draconic, "but I felt it was necessary, Atriox Wannotreyx. You cannot blame me, and I cannot blame you. I suppose it is behind us now." She turns and stands next to Oredion.
"Well," she says in common, quietly to herself, sighing aloud, "at least that's done and over with."
She looks at the dragonborn before he leaves, and nods to him. "I shall join Oredion with the orcs. My bowstring is in need of drawing, and my arrows desire death."
Fenris returns to Alrik, sniffing a rock he found. He hands it to Alrik as if for him to sniff, then gestures with his head toward the orcs. He walks toward Gogron and says in orcish,
"Well met, honorable swords. You helped the dragonborn reclaim the tiefling." His eyes dart to them and then back to the orc.
"If the tiefling was with other prisoners, I'm sure the dragonborn would have sought their freedom as well. Likewise, wherever he was taken as prisoner... It seems he was alone. Did you have more prisoners?"
Gogron grunts. He looks down at the human, but grudgingly nods.
"They're kept elsewhere?"
He grunts again. "Karash rakock. Many prisons. Yes... possible some others alive. We took him to the tiefling, that is all. My brothers died for that." He looks hard at Oxious.
Fenris nods, strumming his fingers on his thigh. "Hm. And the troops are moving?"
Gogron shrugs, tightening his hand on the hilt of his sword. "Was going to be tomorrow. We sabotaged some supplies, but backfired... The drums say tonight.
Fenris turns to Alrik and the boy. "If you wish, we can move in once the army departs the mountain. Fewer guards... Downwind..." He looks to sniff the air. "We get in and out with the prisoners."
Alrik looks from Fenris to Tucker, then back to Fenris. "I'll follow your instruction, Bloodhound. You know best when it comes to tracking things."
@Chantry Williams Fenris nods. He tugs his dog's leash and Brutus starts sniffing the ground in earnest. "Let's go then. We're burning moonlight, and we'll have a small window. We're all soldiers in war now, boy." He eyes Tucker and sets off, leading the two of you toward the mountain.
Alrik grabs Tucker's sleeve and pulls him close. "Remember, lad... everything I say. If I tell you to duck, you hit the dirt. If I tell you to defend yourself, you fight like your life depends on it..." his eyes get hard, the storm within flickering. "And if I tell you to run or to get yourself to safety... you run and don't look back. You run all the way to the harbor and get on the earliest boat heading to the Komodori. You run and you find Jaundree or Nathbryn..." He looks away, watching Fenris move toward the mountain. He lets go of the youth's shirtsleeve and begins following. "they'll continue your training." He mutters over his shoulder, but more so to himself than to Tucker.
