Dragonshore's Healing - Politics and Plans - Part 9

You wake up from a drowsy, gratifying slumber to the sound of a basement door being shut. Opening an eye you see Kora dragging a heavy crate over the hatch in the floor. You don't see the bodies and can figure what's been done with them.

"Good evening sleeping beauty," Dorokor chuckles as she dusts off her hands. She saunters over, a glowing sneer on her face. She lifts her thin cloak and slings it over her shoulders, covering the ripped clothes, blood and bite marks across her torso. She doesn't seem bothered at all by them. If anything, her catching Atriox staring makes her more smug.

Tracing some of the bites on the dragonborn, she tilts her head to the side. "It's not quite dawn yet. Good time to head back. Overfeeding can be, well..." She licks her lips. "If you need to rest here a while longer I don't blame you."

Atriox takes a minute to admire her some more then gets up

"Alas we can not. I have some things to discuss with you on our way back. Plus I've rested enough. Thank you though. On a random note though do you know how much of a striking figure you make ? I mean in a fearsome, strong , orc cheiftes type of way of course."

Atriox chuckles as he heads for the door. His cloak around him once more

Dorokor snorts, turning her face away without reply. You can tell she appreciated the comment but isn't going to admit it.

Following you out into the dark chill of the pre-dawn, you make your way for some time before she chimes in again. "Alright, you honey-tongued serpent... what do you wish to discuss?"

Atriox smiles at her comment and looks over at her

"It's about your men. I hope this pleases you, but weather or not doesn't change the fact that they are coming with us on our voyage. I need the man power. Besides they are still your people and im sure you'd like them to be around instead of half a world away no ?"

Dorokor's step falters for half a second but she quickly recovers. "Yes, actually... that would be rather fine to have them along. I'm not sure all of them would be keen on going back to Komodori for a while, but perhaps some would."

She looks up at the sky in thought. "It makes me nervous leaving them here. I did not see my old commander among the dead, nor with those captured or returned to me. I assume he is still out in the wilds, planning... something."

Atriox nods

"Indeed. I caught sight of him once in the battle but i did not sadly have the chance to end him personally. Shame. They will all be coming, weather they like the desert or not. It's not like we will be staying there. I reward loyalty and once Skyhold is rebuilt i will have ample means to do just that."

Dorokor nods, thinking about all the options laid before them. "It will be an interesting... journey... to say the least. I am curious how far this road will take you." She squints as the first rays of sunlight peek over the sea, wincing in the intensity of them. It's rather dazzling.

Atriox ponders everything that happened throughout the night. He remembers the little scene at the docks and stops all of the sudden

"Holly.........fuck...."

Atriox thinks about the drug delivery and the man with the sharp teeth

"How did I not put it together sooner ? My man Bitey was at the docks. The man collecting drugs from those people............ interesting. I need to know more. Come on"

You lead Kora along to a makeshift building that is currently being built near the edge of town. It's the bare bones structure of the mercenary lodge, being headed by some of the carpenters from town and Tank. The minotaur is easily carrying twice the material that the men do without even breaking a sweat. He looks extremely happy with this particular job.

Zeed wanders about jotting down things in a notebook nearby. He looks very focused, his wings still healing and gaining new muscle again. They shiver in the breeze and every so often he stretches them.

Kora tightens her robe around her to better hide the bloodstains. She eyes Atriox curiously.

"What does it matter if this fellow was collecting the drugs? You wish to make him into cattle? Or? Remember what I said happens if you feed on those types of poison."

Atriox looks to Kora.

"Ahhh i haven't explained that yet have I. No I suppose not. Well anyway I plan on building a secret vampire coven in Skyhold.....or should I say under it. I've even got a plan for a food source. Part of the plan will require someone who is of the criminal element and if someone in my employe is already among that sort then who better ?"

Atriox aproaches his boys calling out to them and goes straight for Zeed.

Tank turns and waves, nearly conking a guy in the head with a 2x4. Zeed looks up, a smile on his face. "Hey boss! Been a while. What you think?" He snaps his book closed and gestures to the building. "I'm not so good at this sort of stuff. Tank loves it though. We're super excited about it."

Atriox smiles at them. He feels a warmth bloom up inside him. He's very fond of his boy's and he's proud of what they've done. He was planning on taking them with him after all but after this........after seeing how happy they both are....perhaps he will leave them for awhile

Atriox comes out of his own mind and clears his throat

"I think it's coming along nicely. Im impressed with how you guys are doing. Im very proud of you two."

He pats zeed on the back while being mindful of his wings

"Say have you seen Bitey ? I need to ask him about something."

Zeed beams with pride. He has definitely turned over a new leaf being under your direction. Hero work is certainly more his style.

"You know, I haven't as often lately... Bitey's been more aloof ever since the kobolds." His brow furrows and he scratches the feathers on his cheek. "He did stop by early this morning to check on the progress here. Didn't say much. You know him. He did have a cart though."

Zeed turns on the spot, looking around the area. "I was so tired this morning... But I'm pretty sure he went... up the road towards White Birch? Maybe delivering something to Aren. Sad that he'll miss the festival today." He looks mildly disappointed but shrugs.

"TANK!" He yells, "You and the guys wanna take a break? We can go check out the magic pie eating contest this year."

The minotaur lets out a happy exclamation and drops his wood with a loud TWACK. "Yeah Z, let's go!" Zeed smiles at you and eyes Dorokor with just the slightest bit of apprehension. "See you there later, yeah? Mayor Cere wanted to see us all around noon I think."

Atrioxs grunts and nods his head

"Joy I wonder what ol cere wants from us now. Anyway thanks Z I'll see you guys later."

Atriox pulls Dorokor aside and looks at her seriously

"I need you to track and follow Bitey. Stop him from delivering that cart and bring him to me. Do NOT kill him Kora but if you have to rough him up you may. Do you think you can do that my fearsome cheiftes ?"

She tilts her head back, looking at Atriox down her nose with a mock offended look. "You know who you're talking to? I daresay I can." Her lips can't help but twitch in a smile. She enjoys teasing you. "I'll bring him to our... romantic getaway. Perhaps payment will be due later after delivery."

With a smirk Kora starts walking, stretching her arms and cracking her knuckles. Then she pauses. Without looking back she comments quietly, "And your ideas for a coven are very intriguing. I would love to help more with that later if I can."

Atriox uses his super speed to go up behind her, twirl her, and then kiss her passionately before biting her lip. After he pulls away he says

"Of course. Ill need your help and i want you there for it. Need you there......"

With that Atriox rushes away with his vampiric powers torwards Oxious house

Leaving a rather bemused Kora in your wake, you hurry onward to Oxious' residence. Skirting around town to avoid most of the busy festivities, you reach the top of the hill in no time. Oxious is, oddly, relaxing outside of his gate. He keeps eyeing the museum next door, a strange look on his face. A tired look.

When he sees you he nods in greeting, then knits his brows. You are very aware of him scanning your attire from head to foot... caked in dust, mud, tatters and bloodstains; a mix of your own and others. His voice is rather thin and icy when he speaks.

"...Glad to see you made it alright. I daresay, I don't want to even ask what you've been up to."

He stands, brushing off his waistcoat and straightening his collar. "Come. We have business to attend to."

Atriox grunts and follows

"I dont really care what you think Oxious but if you must know I saved a woman from being raped and murdered by some thugs. They also provided sustenance as i needed it. Now I will be safe at the festival, and so will everyone else."

He rolls his eyes. "I see... Good thing we're having this meeting today then. Awkward as hell as it is...."

Oxious lets out a loud sigh as he approaches the door. Begrudgingly... he knocks.

The look on his face just dares you to ask why so he can kill you. It's full of embarrassment and irritation. After a minute the door opens and you see Vincent standing there. His eyes are bright and welcoming. "Why hello dear friend! Glad we could schedule such a meeting of the minds on this fine festive day."

Gesturing with his hand he invites you both in. His head is bowed low, red streaks in his hair matching the burgundy red coat over his vest. As the door closes he follows after you with a click of his cane on the floor. "How are you doing Oxious? Everything fairing well at the Velvet Fang I hope?"

You tune out their casual conversation for a second as you take in the house. It's... different. Boxes and crates are everywhere, with white sheets over the furniture. Several display cases have been set up with velvet rope barriers sectioning off the house.

Oxious looks ruffled and shrugs off the niceties. "Vincent, let us sit and talk. I believe you and Atriox of Skyhold have met already, so I will spare the introductions."

He waves you both toward a parlor room which still has several uncovered chairs for relaxing. He withdraws a familiar book from his bag and slaps it on the table, sitting down with a grunt beside it. He crosses one leg over his knee, leaning forward and watching Vincent carefully.

"Atriox. Vincent and I have been.... Business partners.... For a very long time." He seems to be picking his words carefully, chewing on them as he says them. "He is also afflicted with vampirism."

Vincent rolls his eyes. "Oh gods, Oxious, you are always so dour about my condition. It's not an affliction."

You can see the tiefling prickle but he stays quiet. With a loud sigh he levels a very exhausted stare at Atriox. "I hoped to bring you here today to help answer any questions you have about your... "condition"--" he rolls his eyes at Vincent, who holds his peace, "--and help give you guidance on the subject. That's why I have that book Dahlia so foolishly borrowed." He shifts in his seat. "And why Vincent and I have certain... arrangements."

Atriox is very uncomfortable with the tone Oxious is choosing to talk with and just this whole situation in general but he trys to keep calm

"I see.......im not actually that surprised Vincent. I knew something was.....different about you since the first time we met. What is this agreement then ?"

Oxious opens his mouth, but then closes it. He rubs his temple and Vincent kindly takes over.

"Pardon the suddenness of the discussion, friend. And I am not shocked at all by your assumptions about me, you seem quite the perceptive fellow. I could tell at our meeting." He leans back and places his hands carefully on his knees, sitting incredibly polite and proper.

"I've been a curator at the museum for a few hundred years now. As far as anyone else is concerned, I have unnaturally good health and longevity from my elven heritage." His eyes glow. "Honestly I prefer work among the living than the dead. And to be honest, hunting is barbaric and just too much of a chore for me."

Oxious mutters under his breath, "Yes, he is quite the clean freak. Bit obsessive, this one."

Vincent chooses to ignore the comments, focusing on Atriox most. "When Oxious joined our community here, he was very intrigued by the history and in procuring certain items for his establishment. Between myself and another third party we were able to assist him with those said items. However, he is also very.... observant."

The tiefling sighs, leaning back. "This little cockadoodle would be no where to be seen some days. Hard to get a hold of. Only wanted to meet at certain times of the day. But I knew he had his own business he wanted to run."

Vincent smiles as if it is a pleasant memory. "And so we came to an agreement. Oxious provides me blood... it sustains much better than animals do... so we can both be productive entrepreneurs. In exchange I helped keep his trade secrets quiet and funneled him rare, unique items I'd procure at the museum. Very symbiotic."

Oxious rolls his eyes, but doesn't disagree. "It's worked out for our mutual benefit for some time now. And Vincent is a very..." he pauses, struggling to be polite. "...upstanding member of our community."

He turns to look at you more carefully. "Vincent has assisted with much here in Dragonshore and has much more to do still. I support his endeavors completely. Atriox, I know you yourself are nobility and very proud of your own heritage. I wanted to invite you to be friends with Vincent, so he can give you guidance. Ways you can survive with your affli--... excuse me, condition..." Vincent nods happily. "...And still uphold your status without the unpleasant questions of others."

Atriox listens very quietly

Afterwards theres an apparent awkwardness in the air

"Well gentlemen this is a very interesting meeting. First thing I have to say as ruler over these lands I do not unofficially of course care about your side businesses. Now I do appreciate your thoughtfulness Oxious. Im going to choose to believe that its out if friendship

Atriox coughs in exaggeration

"As for feeding. Ill tell you right now im not against getting blood through peaceful ways, in fact sometimes it will be necessary. But im not like you Vincent. I do enjoy the hunt and the kill. Im a Dragon by nature. But i do have a moral code, and I think I found a prey of choice. Outlaws and criminals to be exact. There's an abandoned house that I'm using for my killing ground. I plan on procuring it legally so nobody questions me being there. But what do you have to say Vincent?"

Vincent blanches a little, or perhaps his illusionary mask of humanity falters and you see his paler face beneath. He shrugs in a very nonchalant way. "To each his own. I won't ask any further questions and will gladly keep your secret, as you are a friend of Oxious... and you know my secret, and I don't wish it getting out."

Oxious looks a little sick, realizing he thinks he knows the building you're talking about. The thought of bodies being stored there makes him queasy and he conjures up a cup of hot tea to sip.

The vampire shifts uncomfortably, rubbing one hand with the other. "Be that as it may, I suppose the savage beast can be tamed enough to cull undesirables. That is an interesting use of the condition."

He gestures to the book on the table. "As Oxious has already made use of the information within this text... it may be beneficial for your research. We are passing it on to you. Should you wish to try things in a more civilized way, the information may be insightful. Especially if one of your charges tried to replicate the procedure herself." Vincent's eyes dance with delight and Oxious glares daggers at him.

The tiefling turns to address you. "It's not wise for the vampire to be present for a blood letting. Or to be there after, unless the wound is properly treated. The blood can be stored in specialized containers that keep it fresh for up to 24 hours after. It is not as filling as a fresh... kill... but it is doable with someone you trust without the risk of death, frenzy, or being identified as what you are."

At the last words, Vincent takes over again. "You may or may not be surprised, but there are those who hunt our kind in the world. It does not matter if you are a prince or a pauper; they find out, they come for your head." We've had the Radiance land at this port before, but thankfully your tiefling here kept me safe from their inquiries. They were none the wiser."

Atriox leans back in his chair. Thinking about that

"I'll ignore the rude blanching and comments.....for now. Tell me more about this group.....the Radiance did you say ?"

Oxious sighs. "The Radiance... also known as the House of Ohotnik. It is an ancient clan from the western isles of Barione. Every male is named Ok Ohotnik and seeks some unique accomplishment to use as a Suffix. Founded by Ok Ohotnik the Lightbringer, vampire-hunting paladin.... Currently lead by Ok Ohotnik the Darkslayer, monster hunter who has killed over two-hundred shadows."

He drains the last of his tea with kind of a morose look. "There are hundreds of members around Alverathion." Oxious raises his hand prestidigitating a bright symbol in the air. "They usually bear some kind of pendant or tattoo in the shape of a starburst," he moves his fingers through the center, causing a shadow, "with a skull in the middle. Beware them, Atriox."

Atriox growls slightly

"They sound like bigots and naive fools. If I do run into them I wont be alone and they'll learn to fear a dragons wrath. Thank you both for the advice and the book. I will study it with great interest. Before i leave though i have some things for you Vincent. Way overdue in fact"

Atriox reaches into his satchel and pulls out the antiques from the temple

There's a glimmer of admiration in Oxious' face. He sighs, closing his eyes. "Not really surprising with you, honestly."

Vincent looks intrigued. "You found these? Where might I ask? These are fascinating..." He places them on the table and withdraws some gloves so he can handle them more carefully.

Oxious shifts uncomfortably. He stands and straightens his jacket. "I feel as if my business is concluded. Vincent, I'll see you later this week for our appointment. Good day." He nods to him and looks at Atriox. "I'll be outside if you need me."

He makes his way out of the sitting room, walking with as much poise as he can. It's like he is trying to look at anything but his house at the moment, and it's not long before you hear the front door open and close again.

Vincent picks up one of the stranger artifacts. "I appreciate you bringing these to me. If you happen to find more, I pray we can work out a deal where I might be able to.... mmm, procure them from you? They would make great additions to the expanded museum of Dragonshore. The Mayor discussed the idea at length with me. Said it would be a fantastic way to help put our city on the map." His eyes brighten. "An idea of yours I presume."

Atriox watches Oxious go and then chuckles at the curator

"I don't want to brag but yes I thought it would be a good idea. Ancient Elven temple and all which is where i found these. The Kobolds exgavated a whole giant piles worth of the things. They don't understand they're value but i knew you would."

"I see... I see..." he stands slowly, contemplating. Pacing the room. He looks around at the different walls, mumbling to himself.

"What exactly are your plans with this temple the kobolds are excavating? If I may ask?"

Atriox shrugs

"I honestly don't know. The Kobolds are excavating it for a treasure that I'm after. It once belonged to the great dragon Pyrlanth who's remains are near the temple somewhat. It was a base if operations for the Kobolds but we do have a formidable camp as well..."

Vincent makes a face as if considering the information. "Hmmm... Very intriguing indeed."

He holds a trinket up to the light and it glints in the sun. "Some of these definitely could be from his time... Perhaps..."

(Make an insight check)

Atriox looks at Vincent carefully studying him

(Got a Nat 20 !)

In your youth, you grew up in a place where you could tell when people were being kind-worded and silver tongued. Untruth doesn't sit well... You know without a doubt the mannerisms of someone placating. He's definitely being coy. You know the artifacts at that elven temple have nothing to do with Pyrlanth's treasure as it has been lost for centuries.

Though... Vincent is rather old, after all.

Atriox trys to play it cool fully knowing that the mans hiding something.

"No I dont think so. Pyrlanth pre dates the town of Dragonshore. In fact he had a freind who survived that i became acquainted with and she shared much with me about Pyrlanth and his treasures. I'm on the hunt and that treasure will belong to a dragon once more."

Vincent stops and looks over out of the corner of his eye at Atriox. "A friend of Pyrlanth?" There is some hesitation in his voice as if he's unsure. He changes tactics a bit in his uncertainty. "What if the treasure is already gone?"

Atriox grunts

"Then it's somewhere else. Who ever has it,that treasure doesn't belong to them. This town is built on the death of a mighty dragon who's territory was encroached upon in the first place. I am one of the guardians of his grove, i habe felt his power, I am a freind Krysvyre the ancient freind of Pyrlanth !"

He drops his hand with the artifact and levels a look at you. "Krysvyre?" He looks slightly crestfallen. "She was a good girl... Settle, dear dragonborn." Vincent motions with his hand, sets the trinket on the table and sits down once more.

"Listen..." he takes off his spectacles and pulls out a silk handkerchief to clean them. "I know I cannot avoid the subject with you. That treasure was scattered. Truly. After Pyrlanth's death, much of the original gold and jewels were used to salvage what was left of White Birch and build what is now known as Dragonshore."

He replaces his glasses and sighs deeply. "I was sad to see such precious things be traded away, but it has purchased a beautiful, thriving port town. It was many years ago, generations past... A few... pieces... have remained in my collection at the museum."

He looks thoughtful. "Granted...I know of your deals with the mayor. In a way, you now own a part in that museum and those artifacts."

Vincent tilts his head, intrigued. "If you come across other objects of Pyrlanth or the old elven races... they often cast his gold and silver into little dragon figurines. Beautiful things. We could keep them safe here on display, perhaps? We are expanding our museum greatly, and even more spirits will be able to learn of the great dragon who protected these lands. "On loan from the Skyhold Estate... Kingdom of Skyhold...." you know, formalities such as those, to indicate who the owner of the piece really is."

Atriox growls

"I feared that perhaps that was the case. Very well. Then sounds like we have a deal. We can work something out for the pile of artifacts already found and for future ones."

Atrioxs takes a deep breath before continuing

"As for the temple.....I wish to keep it. It has some great things about it and my kobolds will be getting a memorial built there to they're fallen. But i would like to work out something maybe once excavation is done, to where parts will be open at certain times for visitors as a part of the museum. As well as Pyrlanths remains."

Vincent looks intrigued at the idea. "That is fine with me. It was always too dangerous to go into the forest in centuries past... but now we might actually have a chance to explore the nature of the area... the lore... the history."

He smiles kindly. "I appreciate your assistance, Atriox. If there is anything I have a thirst for, truly, it is things like these. Should you need anything else, just ask."

With a shake of your hand he leads you out to the foyer. "Please give Oxious my kindest regards. And hopefully no hard feelings..." Vincent gives a light shrug and another smile.

Atriox shakes his hand back with a smile

"None what so ever. We all have our own ways, which is fine as long as we don't upset the balance. Good day to you Vincent."

Atrioxs nods to him one last time and exits

Oxious stands outside the gates, looking morose and moody. He catches your gaze and sighs before walking over. There is a moment where he takes you in, checking your scales and your eyes briefly. "You doing alright? You might want to practice more of the hiding your features bit... just some advice."

Nervously he shudders and turns around, looking at the people passing by down the hill. "I know that was awkward and annoying. I'm not sorry though."

Atriox closes his eyes for a moment and concentrates. He feels a shiver go through his body and he pops his neck to the side as it gods through his neck. Afterwards he looks his arms and and hands hoping that his vampiric side is concealed

"Better ? And i know you're not. I'd be surprised and disappointed if you were."

Oxious rolls his eyes. "Much better. Your eyes don't look like the plague and your skin doesn't exude the presence of death."

He begins to walk away from the house with you and toward the festival below. "I will be... staying at the Fang for an indeterminate amount of time. You'll be able to find me in my office. Certain circumstances require I redouble my efforts there... We'll be busier with the crowds after all."

He glances over at you. "Also... Just because I am closer doesn't mean you can come bug me any time you want. Don't get any ideas or I'll ward my door."

Atriox chuckles and casually walks with Oxious. It's actually quit nice

"I'll do what I want you old goat and if you ward it I'll Eldritch blast your door down."

Atriox laughs at his own mischievous ideas

"Nahhhhh you'll be safe. I have a pretty busy day ahead of me but while were here I'd like to discuss a few thing's with you

"Oh gods... Yes? A new venture I suppose?" He acts exasperated but you catch the faintest hint of a smile there. He laces on the sarcasm. "What scheme do you have up your sleeve this time, mighty prince?"

Atriox chuckles

"Of course but we will get to that in a bit first walk with me freind."

Atriox leads him to Willows shop. Once there he leads Oxious inside

Oxious seems unsure when you start walking that direction, and upon arriving he freezes midstep. His eyes look mournful, gazing up at the front of the building and the dim, unlit windows. It's almost as if he feels unworthy to enter.

Tentatively he moves forward. His voice is thin. "Why did you bring me here, Atriox? I'd rather face that vile lich again than be in this place."

Atriox turns and looks at Oxious once inside with a saddened face

"I know my freind I know. But you must face it all the same. I miss her to. She was undoubtedly more special to you but i could tell how special of a woman she was."

Atriox takes a deep breath

"Did somebody tell you about how she passed.....?"

He grimaces, shaking his head. "N-no. I dare not ask. I don't think I could take it."

The tiefling exhales slowly and steps inside, forcing himself to confront the ghost of memories. "I know you and the others dealt with the vile cretins that so mercilessly tormented her though... too many people I was close to were targeted."

He hesitates, saying those more difficult words, "T-thank you. For bringing justice... vengeance... whatever you wish to call it upon them. May Asmodeous rake their souls for an eternity."

Atriox looks at Oxious with continued sadness

"It was my honor to fight for this town and avenge those who were lost. I recovered her body you know? Willows. But i couldn't get it home. So I set her free. I cremated her."

Atriox takes out the last of the necklaces he had made with her remains inside. It brightens up the room as soon as he takes it out of his bag. He holds it out to Oxious

"I had this made to hold her ashes. Dahlia has it's twin. I hope they help you both in some small way

His face looks pale in the light. He gazes at the necklace at a complete loss for words. Very seldom if ever have you seen Oxious look as completely lost and unguarded as he does now--the only other time was when you rescued him from the torture he was being put through with the orcs.

"Willow..." The tiefling hesitates to take it as if it is something holy, something that might burn him should he touch it. "I don't feel worthy of this. Of you." Almost lost in his own thoughts, he speaks quietly to it, frail and hurting.

As it ends up in his hand he shudders, suddenly realizing his vulnerability. He turns quickly away from you, his face angled so you can't see the tears in his eyes. He looks up at the ceiling, steeling himself. You can tell he's struggling to make some comment, snap or gripe at you about something. But he can't. He can't say anything.

Atriox keeps his distance

"Its alright you old goat. Those tears dont make you less of a man. In fact it's the very opposite. She's with you now as long as you have that. Continue to make her proud my freind."

He lets out a shaky breath and clears his throat. "Yeah. I will." With a slight nod, you know he's thanking you.

"You too. I know she was glad to have met you. She wouldn't stop talking about when you and Dahlia came by to visit..."

He puts his hand on his face and rubs his eyes exasperatedly. "A-anyway. I'm going to head back to the Fang for a while. Need to sort through some things."

As he heads for the exit he runs his hand along the door frame. "You were right. I'm glad I came here." Oxious looks over his shoulder. "Will I see you at the festival later?"

Atriox looks at the old goat and smiles

"I don't think I have an option. My presence is expected but it but it will be a pleasant distraction. Ill see you later my freind ."

Oxious nods. He heads down the sunny street toward the Velvet Fang, his hand tightly and protectively clutching Atriox's gift.

The day is still early and the crowds outside swell through the market and the activities. You hear cajoling and cheers, the sound of animals and music. There are dozens of banners with The Dragonkindled Harvest written in colorful letters. Everywhere you see groups of people working on making wreaths for the evening party.

Atriox heads to the velvet fang as well to deal with the survivor. He prays this goes as well as he needs it to

You head on your way, taking your time to give Oxious some space. You don't see him when you arrive. Checking with Magnolia at the entrance you're directed to a room downstairs in the employee quarters.

You find the half-elf woman you saved at the docks sitting at a table. She's taking a sip of coffee as you enter. Looking over the mug she levels her pale blue eyes with yours. She's finally cleaned up and in fresh clothes, her dark skin and dark hair contrasting the white silky robes she was given.

You can see she's processing a few thoughts in that moment. You know not when your charm spell wore off from her, but she did make it here safely and she does seem to remember you. Setting her cup down she stands and makes her way toward you.

Extending her hand in a very eloquent manner she says, "Vendui. Bel'la dos whol lil' xxizz. Thank you for your assistance this morning, dragon friend. Sir Atriox, I presume? Sir Oxious introduced himself, as did Matron Dahlia... They spoke highly of you."

She nods. "My name is Bethrynna of the Stormwind clan. It is a pleasure."

Atriox shakes her hand politely. He gives her a warm smile as thing's are starting smoothly so far. Atriox motions for her to sit back down and he joins her

"My lady Bethrynna it's a pleasure to officially meet you. That was nasty business in the alley. I hope you walked away from it mostly unharmed?"

"Mostly unharmed, yes. Thanks to a dark knight aiding my rescue." She sits again and smiles kindly. "And you can call me Rynna if you'd like."

Atriox continues to smile

"Rynna it is then. I hope you dont mind me assuming Reynna but you don't look like a local. Wluld you mind me asking where your from and what your business here is ?"

"To be honest, I have no idea where I've landed. It is a quaint little city from the little I've seen. I hail from the city of Satun in northern Arkoshia. I was traveling as an emissary to the holy city of Wadun, or supposed to be..."

"My father, Roth the Lord of Shattercrag, has always worked to improve relations between the king's city and that of the deep elves, Orthae Faer Che'el. Our people in the common tongue call it the sorcerous city of Frowood... Most of them are... not fond of Satun or its people."

Rynna shakes her head. "My father hoped to start talks with some of the other drow--deep elves--in Wadun. If we could build bridges with other cities of their brethren... perhaps those in Frowood would be more receptive. We even had some who claimed to be on our side from Frowood, but..."

She gives a wan smile. "They waylaid our ship during the journey. Killed the main crew and claimed the ship for their own. Took me and some of my maids as prisoners for their pleasures. From what I overheard... they were meaning to make it look like the ship was lost in a storm at sea. I wouldn't be surprised if it's sunk off the coast somewhere near here... They would return with stories explaining their survival and demonizing those of us from Satun... fate of the gods and all, you know." She tilts her head. "Politics."

Atriox looks shocked at her news. He sitting with someone from his homeland.

He quietly says
"Indeed"
In a distracted way

After a few moments he trys to recover from the shock and clears his throat

"Well I am very glad that i was able to help you indeed. I'm sorry about the loss of your crew and maidens truly. As to where you are I can help you there. You are in Dragonshore. A growing port city on the southern coast of Baralona."

Atriox looks her over while stroking his chin spikes

"How very odd and strangely fortuitous for you that fate seemed fit to land you here."

"Fate seems to have at least redeemed me from a watery grave, or worse." She chuckles. "But I know not how to return home at this point, as all of my belongings were lost. I have no funds with which to purchase passage."

"Likely, if I can find a willing post carrier, I will be able to write a missive to my father and be fetched some time hence."

She nods to you. "Again, your assistance was very much appreciated sir Atriox. If my house can repay your goodwill someday, it would be a great honor for me to see it done."

Atriox thinks it over before finally deciding to help her even more

"That won't be a problem my lady. Luckily for you me and my forces will be heading to Arkhosia within a weeks time. We will be making a detour to the Komodori desert but you are more than free to come along."

Atriox stands and goes to the door

"If we are sticking to formalities Ambassador it's not Sir Atriox. It's Prince......Prince Atriox. Now would you mind following me. We will find you proper accommodations and attire."

Her eyes widen a bit. "I see. My sincerest apologies for addressing you below your title, Prince Atriox."

Rynna bows lightly at the waist. She stands and follows after, questions on her mind.

Atriox leads her outvof the fang and torwards the "Mayors" office. He looks over at her with an amused look

"You should probably meet Lord Cere. A diplomat from my homeland and the lord of my newest providence should get acquainted."

She nods kindly. "Of course, please. It would be my pleasure to meet the Lord of this province."

She walks in step beside you, about a head shorter. "I greatly appreciate the offer to accompany you to our homeland as well... Fate is indeed kind. And if I can return to my father's court with some successful diplomatic discussions... that would be a happy reunion."

"Where are you Prince of, if I may ask?" She looks genuinely interested, taking in your attire and your stance. "I remember stories of a Dragonborn Kingdom from my youth, but we haven't seen hardly any Dragonborn in the country for nigh on a decade."

Atriox grunts and still looks amused

"I said you were a diplomat of my country did I not ? I thought it would be apparent who I am. Not that I'm trying to seem full of myself but I'm a dragonborn prince from Arkhosia. I think you can put the rest together ambassador."

She reddens, halting her questions in slight embarrassment. She does seem rather scholarly despite her youth.

"I can picture your claim, sire. I did not wish to assume, merely to clarify."

There is a long, awkward moment where she struggles with something. "Please forgive my lack of tact, but... A claim on the fallen mountain... it's no small matter. Not that I doubt you, sir, only..."

Her brow knits. "All I have heard from scholars in my youth was concerning the destruction of that poor kingdom. How the royal family was wiped out; not a sole survivor made it. That the land itself is rumoured cursed for dragonkind since... That's all anyone has learned in Arkhosia in the years since Skyhold's collapse."

Turning, she fixes on you with a searching look. "I sense no deception from you regarding this and I pray you do not take my words harshly. I wish no offense."

Atriox stops. He doesn't make to look at her. He just takes a moment to take a big breath and then releases it. Finally he looks at her with a sad smile

"I know you don't and none is taken freind. All those years ago I ran away as my home was attacked,my people slaughtered. I've never gone back. Never needed to. But I have this feeling deep in my bones it's time to make my way home. Truthfully im terrified, but I need to."

He suddenly looks hopeful and confident

"It is time to set things right. It is time for my kingdom to rise and become the empire I have dreamed of. I've already started here on this continent. My roots will spread from Dragonshore till all of Baralona is under my banner. I think your family will come in handy helping me solidify my position."

Atriox continues walking torwards where cere should be

Your response seems to have impressed something on her. She seems to consider your answer with a great deal of gravity and follows after you with an intrigued expression.

On the way to the town hall you actually spot a crowd of people including Cere. He seems to be doing well, entertaining guests and making his way to the festivities. Spotting you he waves, exclaiming happily and introducing you to the others.

Atriox trys to go along with the show and shakes people's hands and smiles Etc. Etc.

He trys to get to Ceres ear and points to the ambassador while saying

"There's somebody you should meet Cere."

Cere beams and reaches up to shake the woman's hand. "Hello! How do you do, miss?"

"It's a pleasure to meet you Lord Cere." Rynna smiles back. "I'm Bethrynna Stormwind, an ambassador from Satun."

The dwarf's beard fluffs up a bit, enjoying the new title. He sputters a little and looks between Atriox and her, a smile on his face. "Why yes, it is a wonderful time for you to visit us miss Stormwind. Quite a wonderful time indeed."

Atrioxs says

"Her introduction to our fair port was not the most pleasant of ones. She's marooned here, her ship sunk by thugs sadly. I have offered to take her with me when I return."

Cere looks surprised and then takes her hand gently. "I am so sorry to hear of your difficulties thus far, and hope your stay here may be a pleasant one. You are in good hands with us." He smiles at Atriox. "I would trust this man with my life. He's saved it many times already."

Cere puffs out his chest. "I'll take care of her and make sure she's got accommodations for the time she is here. I'll meet you at noon, Atriox. Town square." He winks and leads her and the others away.

You make your way to the docks. The ships are starting to thin out, being redirected to another port nearby or out to sea; the activity with the wreaths that evening will need the harbor deserted. Avoiding the busier areas you slip down the ally and make your way into the abandoned building you found the night before.

Dorokor is sitting with an ankle over a knee, casually widdling away at a piece of wood she's found. The light from the door makes her eyes shine and she smiles. You see she's a bit bruised and battered, but they almost seem like old injuries now; she must have been regenerating this whole time.

You finally notice she's sitting on a person dressed in black garb. Darkly dyed leggings and a leather jacket stained with blood, it's Bitey.

He turns to face you with a groan, his eyes wincing in the light. His pale face blanches a bit more when he sees it's you. Managing a plastered, toothy smile, he nods. "Boss."

Atriox returns it with a toothy smile of his own and nods back

"Ahhh Bitey so glad you could make it. I hope it wasn't to much of an inconvenience."

He tries to shift the weight of the orc atop him and just groans as his back cracks. You can tell he's having trouble breathing and she has his arms and legs tied. There's even a pile of materials on a table nearby, likely all the items and weapons from his person that she found on him.

Bitey lets out a husky laugh. "Inconveniences are my favorite."

Atriox chuckles and then motions to Kora

"Come now Bonebreaker get off our guest of honor. Help him into a chair. We have a lot to talk about Bitey"

He grunts as she stands, none too gently. Shoving her knife and wooden figure back into her pocket she reaches down and, with hardly any effort, hefts him up by the shirt collar. His feet not even touching the floor anymore, she walks toward a free chair and slams him down in it.

Bitey's head looks like it's swimming. You catch vague curses under his breath, mostly inappropriate names directed at Dorokor. His head lulls to the side, a very bored and pained expression on his face.

"Do we, boss?"

Although he's hardly said anything so far, this is more than you've ever heard him say period in the weeks that you've known him. His voice is rather scratchy and quiet, just like before.

Atriox justs nods and crosses his hands

"We do and let me be clear so we can skipt all the pointless posturing and bullshit Bitey. Im not here to arrest you or punish you for some crime or another. At the moment I don't overly care to be honest. So that being said I expect the truth and I expect it quickly. Do that and your day will actually turn out for the better. No need's hurt or to get upset even"

With that being said Atriox sits in another chair across from Bitey

"How about you start with who you are and everything you're actually up to."

He copies your posture almost exactly, a lopsided grin on his face. "I go by Bitey. I am part of the Dragonshore Mercenary group. I assist Prince Atriox, my current employer. My prior employer was Zeedack Zakarias. I do part time jobs to supplement my income."

At each pause in speaking his tongue flicks against his teeth. He doesn't seem to give away anything more than what you know.

Atriox radiates pure disappointment

"What a shame. Here I thought you were a sensible person. I thought you'd be the right man for the job but all well. Bonebreaker."

Atriox motions with his head torwards Bitey

"Dont beat him. He expects that. Get creative."

He looks at Bitey again
"I'd do it myself you understand but sadly I have a public engagement to attend to after this."

Bitey looks exasperated. He rolls his eyes at Dorokor, stretching his neck as he does so. "Atriox..." He drags your name out, lingering on it. "Why the sudden interest? Especially out of all the others? This seems like a peculiar job interview."

Dorokor approaches him and cracks her knuckles. She circles him like a vulture over a carcass.

Atriox looks equally exasperated

"Had you just answered my question we would have gotten to that. Why you above the others ? Because they're not REAL criminals unlike you. I always wondered where you dissapeared to. Why you left your supposed friends behind all the time. What we saw last night just confirmes it."

Atriox croses hus legs and clicks his finger's together

"So wpuld you like to try answering my originally question again ?"

His eyes narrow. "You saw me... on the docks. Shit."

He eyes Dorokor out of the side of his peripheral, watching her mess with her knife again. Bitey licks his lips. "I do work for the Ivory Jacks. They deal in upper class drugs, underground fight rings, brothels, casinos, and they have their hands in the pockets of most politicians."

Dorokor brings the blade close to his ear and begins to slice against it, threatening small, paper-thin cuts. "He shies away from it. "I'm an agent here. A Spade. We do footwork. Move goods. Vet areas for new business. I worked for Zeed as a cover. Double pay, half the work. He's small time with down time. I keep moving."

Atriox listens all the while and nods at the end

"Ahhh I see. So before we get to the next bit just one last question. How loyal are you to these Ivory Jacks ?"

"Loyalty gets you killed. Always by someone." He snaps his teeth at Dorokor who socks him in the ear with the butt of the knife. The audible THWACK echoes off the walls and he looks like he's going to be sick. "I protect my own neck. I wouldn't try to double-cross and mole my way in to the Ivory, they'd gut me like a fish."

Atriox rolls his eyes

"Both of you stop. Now. Bonebreaker as much as I'm enjoying this veiw would you......for me.....steo away from the man. At least till his tongue need's loosening again that is."

He gives her a smile and a wink then turns his attention back to Bitey

"Well it's a good thing I'm not interested in the Ivory Jack's then. I'm only interested in what you can do Bitey."

She brushes past him, wiping her thumb against his bleeding lip. She lustily licks the blood and glares benignly at Atriox, receptive to his wishes. Standing with her back to the wall she continues to watch.

Bitey blinks at you, not daring to take his eyes from yours. "What I can do? I can do a lot. What do you need done?"

Atriox chuckles

"Are you sure ? What WE (Atriox looks at Kora with a smile even though it was all his idea) have in mind is no small thing, is morally really fucked up, and will take time. But the rewards could be very great. Plus I think you know by now.....I'm a pretty good boss."

Kora tilts her head at Atriox. There's an intrigued sneer on her face, her tusks protruding more than usual.

Bitey slowly smiles. More of his teeth show than normal. You can see even his molars have been filed to be serrated. "Morally fucked up is what I do best. And yes..." He licks his lips. "You have been a more than generous benefactor since we met."

Atriox looks at Bitey with a smile. He begins to explain how he wants Bitey to establish a criminal underworld in Skyhold. There will eventually be one no matter what they but this way it will be guided by they're desires and not the criminals. He explains that he wants Bitey to be tha main man behind the scenes of this operation. Someone that anyone in the underworld would fear to cross.

The entire time Bitey listens carefully. Quietly. At the end of the explanation his grin widens wickedly. "That can be arranged, boss."

Atriox holds up a hand in warning

"I'm not done. What do you know about Vampires Bitey ?"

His grin fades. He glares at Dorokor. "They hurt like hell."

Kora shrugs, nonplussed. "I may have bitten him once or twice... He did it first so I returned the favor."

Bitey smirks. "Damn right, blood sucker." Looking at Atriox again he shrugs. "They're just like any other blood suckers out there in the criminal world or otherwise, only literal."

Atriox watches the exchange between Bitey and Kora. After they're done he sits silently for a few seconds before exploding with laughter. He rocks back in his chair still laughing all the while . Eventually he stops

"Of course you two bite each other ! I can't believe I didn't see that one coming. All well it's done. As for Vampires......."

Atriox stands and walks over to Bitey. As he does he drops the illusion that's hiding his features. He unsheathes his fangs and his eyes glow

He bends down right infront of Biteys face

"I'd watch who you compare to a Criminal. I promise you my bite is much more painful than hers. He opens his maw to show of his dragon like teeth including the extended fangs

His eyes widen slightly, his face paling. "U-understood." It's the first time he's seemed shaken around you, even if just slightly. Dorokor just smirks knowingly.

Bitey tries to lean back a bit, away from your terrifying teeth. There's almost a look of admiration. Horrified admiration, but still. Licking his lips he tries to maintain eye contact with you, failing miserably as he keeps glancing at your fangs. "You wanting to turn me or something? What's this about?"

Atriox thinks about it. It is an intriguing idea.....he looks at the man for s moment before closing his maw of teeth. He stands and hides his features again

"Perhaps someday........it'd be ironic no ? You'd truly live up to your name and you'd live forever. But you must earn that first. No what i want is for your so called underworld of theives, murders and rapists to be our prey. A farm almost if you'd like. I did tell you about the morally fucked up part yes ?"

He smiles. The irony is not lost on him and he seems receptive to what you've proposed.

"You did. I like it."

His smile drops immediately, almost as if it's not quite real. "So what's the catch?" He tugs at his restraints.

"Am I to do this under threat of death? Torture? Or do I get something out of it, too?"

You realize his eagerness to help has been.... somewhat feigned interest. It does certainly intrigue him. It does seem like something he could accomplish for you. He seems like the kind of man for the job. But under the current circumstances he doesn't have too much of a choice if he wants to get out alive.

Atriox think's it over with a impressed look. He thought this was hoing so easy.

"I suppose that's a fair question. Say you do this......you will become one of the most feared crime lord's in the whole world. By the time we're done the Ivory Jack's will be the one's scared of you Bitey. Once we make it to Skyhold we will begin. I'm not afraid to admit I'm out of my area of expertise here......"

Atriox folds his hands behind his back pondering something and making calculations

"Yes... once there you will tell me what you need. Money ,weapons, connections, man power, you name it. We will power start your career. I'm sure there are some orcs from Dorokors camp and a few kobolds in mine who would be well suited......for your line of work as well."

Atriox goes over to Bitey and usung his claws he sets the man free with a two quick swipes. It almost looked like he didn't even move

"After you prove yourself if you so choose you will join Dorokor and I in our new Coven. You will have a real family that will understand you. You will be immortal, faster and stronger than you ever thought possible, a god amongst sheep. You will be Bitey the Reaper."

Bitey slowly brings his arms forward, flexing his fingers. Rubbing his wrists. He looks from you to Dorokor, his mind calculating. He's quiet again. You can tell this is a good sign. He's taking this seriously.

Finally he speaks, softly. Deliberately. "These seem like pleasing conditions. I accept your offer."

He slowly stands, careful to not seem threatening. He would rather not have Dorokor's tusks clamp down on him again. He extends his hand to shake Atriox's, a smile playing at his lips.

Atriox shakes his hand back and holds on to it tightly

"Good. I expect your undivided loyalty from here on out. Speaking off ....just because were doing this does not mean I support criminal activity. You were sent here to make in land drug routes through my territory. Time to completely dismantle the Ivory Jack's foothold here."

He holds your gaze. There is a pause while he thinks of the ramifications.

"...Yes. I'll see to it."

He stops again. "But know you will have a formidable enemy in the Ivory Jacks. If they trace it back to us before we have an established base... well... they're a world wide network. It will cause problems."

Atriox nods in understanding

"Indeed. We can not let fear deter us my friend. You will not be alone. After tonight ill see that you have guards to help. You should be disguised of course. It'll be like the County of Dragonshore just caught wind of they're operations and fought back."

He nods. "Yes... Yes that will do."

Atriox nods and motions to the door with a flick of his hand

"You may go Bitey. And thank you for coming."

Atriox chuckles and turns to Kora

He walks to the table and gathers his things. Then like a shadow he flits to the door and disappears outside without a sound. The last thing you see is the glint of his pointy smile.

Kora raises an eyebrow as you look at her. "That was... interesting. Strange fellow."

Atriox goes to her his own ridged eyebrow raised

"Are you not a strange being yourself hmm ? Am I not. We are what this world makes us. Bitey is a survivor. I knew that and I exploited it."

He playfully grabs her chin and looks her in the eye's

"Sadly.......I must be off. The rest of today will be very busy for me."

"I'd feel safer keeping an eye on that one. You said perhaps some of my orcs would do well? I agree." A mischievous glint sparks in her eye.

"I'll help pick out those he chooses. Subtly. No doubt he'll want to be in charge of picking his own team." She traces a hand down one of the hair-like tendrils on your crest. "I know how to keep myself busy. We will speak soon and I'll give you a report."

Atriox nods

"I'd appreciate it. Till later then Bonebreaker. I anticipate you'll have more fun than I will."

Atriox heads to the door and back to the Fang. He needs to bath and change quickly before the festivities.
